National Professional Qualification for SENCOs(NPQSENCO)
The NPQ for SENCOs aims to equip participants with essential skills, knowledge and leadership abilities required for the SENCO role. Through our programme, SENCOs will play a pivotal role in shaping whole-school teaching practices and fostering inclusive environments where pupils with SEND can thrive.

Face to Face and Webinar Hours: 32 hours for whole course (4 events)

Online Learning Hours: 50-60 hours for whole course (1-2 hours per week)

Assessment: Summative case study at the end of the course.

What will I study?
The NPQ for SENCOs aims to equip participants with essential skills, knowledge and leadership abilities required for the SENCO role. Through our programme, SENCOs will play a pivotal role in shaping whole-school teaching practices and fostering inclusive environments where pupils with SEND can thrive.
Modules
The course is comprised of four modules over 18 months. Each module lasts 12 weeks. The modules cover all of the ‘learn that and learn how to’ statements from the NPQ for SENCOs Framework Document.
Module 1: Preparing to Practice
Module 2: SEN in Schools
Module 3: Leading SEN
Module 4: Culture and Ethos
How will I be assessed?
There are two success criteria for the course:

Participation in at least 90% of the course

Successfully pass the summative case study assessment
The summative assessment requires you to answer three questions in response to a case study. The assessment windows are set at the start of your course and there is an 8-day period to complete the assessment.
